Mindset is the one biggest hurdle when someone is in the life-situation where he is.
It's his future that he is weaving with his thought and beliefs, that are embossed for some-long time. If he want to change that, then early these things shatters away, better for him.
Take this as just example, may feel like ee.. eee... but take it as live, seen example and understand the pattern, not character. Same applies to the families that live under flyover or in the slum. While on Lonavala trip today, I seen one beggar, he was walking and collecting garbage. While searching something in a dustbin he found piece to eat, thrown by someone, and he started eating and looked at it, again had couple of bites and finished portion of it and threw.
I realised how poor he been but on second moment seen him with a 20 rupees note and few coins. I thought which he can use and have food. Then I realised it is not about can he buy or not, it is about does he want to buy or just eat what he find everyday. Let's think (or just read) with his perspective... if he buy something he need some money, and with small money he has, can buy him vadapav or samosa or other cheaper thing, buy with free trial in dusty bins, every day he might get chips, some stale packed food, even he might get some sweet, stuff that eatable but old or considered bad by classy people but bit OK for him. Be with me, don't think or apply your conscious mind, just read - so what I was telling is - for his daily routine, at Lonavala station, can get him variety of food without money (this is the money, which each human around him, told is very precious!), which is embossed in his mind with the time, as only truth, though. Also at times passengers are feeding him, stall owners must be at times, so with the time, for him, he learnt that food is nothing to pay for, at least not every day. Even if he start paying money for food, it will be 1000 rupees per month!!, for sure he is getting horrified, or may not feel like taking such effort. So he is doing, what he is propelled to do now.
So no need to change routine, or purchase it, this is also embossed. So now stay your mind in thinking mode - as per him it's nothing wrong because he made up his mind and prepared his mindset, rather each person he know is doing nearlt same! why does he need to stand and change.
Scene-2, a good man telling to similar person about good food, higene and better living – but he will not change unless his mindset/belief of so many years is broken, and it's with him how he will respond. Believe me it will not easy for him or similar people like him, rather they are less flexible than educated ones. Same is the case with people who live under flyover, more or less same is with slum, when they are used to things around. With a small bit it is same with everyone seen from the other side of garden. Even those who are sleeping on road or managing miserable life or even dong illegal stuff. I pity them because they are in a big trauma, I will call that a different world, with different logic and pessimistic values.
I am yet to be a saint to convey how they can be treated, or pulled out of it, so will not comment on how to help but it's a difficult task for them to do that. --- so what I meant is man needs to move on, look at best and dream for it and try with additional efforts to go for new better things, do not stuck what you know, do not struck what you believe, there are good things that you are not aware or did not believed. Break your belief, break your routine. If you don't want to be a saint then just move with the time, don't keep old values for long, I mean don't stick to it, use it but to a limit, other wise time will change and you will left behind. This is not true for them who want to be at those values or stay with it and are happy.
